Dr. Nalo Hamilton is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Nursing and a Board Certified Women’s Health and Adult Health Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Hamilton received her Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry from Oakwood University, PhD in Biochemistry from Meharry Medical College and a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Since her doctoral studies, Dr. Hamilton has worked to understand the development of breast cancer and its impact on women of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Currently, she is investigating potential biomarkers and their clinical utility in breast cancer screening and treatment. Her ultimate research goal is to apply her findings from the bench to the bedside, improving the treatment options of breast cancer patients. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Hamilton works as a nurse practitioner for Riverside-San Bernardino County Indian Health Service.
Dr. Hamilton serves as a board member and Policy Chairperson for the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH). She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
